The collection at Woodhorn holds a quantity of literary archives. The Brooks MSS within the collection of The Society of Antiquaries of Newcastle upon Tyne contains many autographs and letters of literary figures such as Charles Dickens, Mary Shelly, Percy Bysshe Shelly, William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge. Amongst the collections donated from wealthy Northumberland landowners are numerous letters from literary figures including correspondence from the artist Joseph Severn, friend to John Keats. Also included are photographs of Wordsworth’s Lake District cottages, as well as letters written by Wordsworth and Dickens. Several poetry posters designed MidNAG in 1973 are also featured within the collection, and amongst them are poems set to artwork by Ted Hughes and Sylvia Plath.
