The library holds two specific collections relating to Children’s Literature The Special Collections are open to staff, students and visitors, although the latter will need to obtain a pass. See website for more details and to search the catalogue. Details of the literary collections:

Children’s Book Collection
Over 200 titles published in the 19th and the first half of the 20th century. Many are moralising tales, published by Christian Societies and presented to individual children for good attendance, good behaviour at school or Sunday School. Fables, fairy tales, poetry, chap books, adventure stories, a few non-fiction (nature books, historical figures) are also included. Several items have fine binding and coloured illustrations.

Schools Resource Collection
The School Resources Collection is a collection of children’s books and non-book material to support education students on placement in schools.  It is also useful to those studying Children’s Literature and Librarianship.
